In a bid to stay on top of emerging edgier competitors, beauty brand Sally Hansen has created a product which allows consumers to recreate salon trends at home. Sally Hansen Salon Effects Nail Nail Polish Strips are embedded with real nail polish and can be applied in the comfort of one’s own home by simply peeling off a protective layer, then fitting and filing the nail.

The strips were designed to mimic the effects of the widely popular salon process, ‘Minx’, a favourite with celebrities such as Lady Gaga. It can cost more than £30 to have Minx nails applied, and the process is often time-consuming.

“Minx is very big, and we’ve found a way to allow women to do it at home for much less,” said the vice president of marketing for the sally Hansen Group, Annette Devita. “We looked at how we can translate Minx at home.

The strips, which last ten days are DBP, toluene and formaldehyde-free, odourless and do not need to dry. Designs include neon, metallic and high-shine patterns and will cost just under ten dollars for a set containing sixteen strips (room for mistakes!), a cuticle stick, a mini file-buffer and full instructions.

Sally Hansen Salon Effects Nail Polish Strips are set to hit shelves in March

This is what happens when women try to make themselves amused instead of trying to attract a man.

    • R U SERIOUS 26/12/2010 at 5:19 am · Reply

Only a woman who has trouble finding a man would make such a incoherent statement. Since you don’t know the laws of attraction, I’ll help you out. These products are designed to make a woman feel good about her appearance. If she feels good, then she exudes that and then will attract a man who senses her positive attitude. Also, some guys say they don’t care, but it does matter to a man when your nails and feet look well maintained.

I agree R U serious there is nothing wrong with wanting to look and feel good about yourself it shouldn’t have anything to do with a man. That was agreat answer.

      I agree with R U SERIOUS.
A positive attitude & confidence is the most attractive quality a woman can possess. And if a great manicure can give a girl that little extra burst of confidence, great!

Only a bitter cat lady with no man to satisfy her would have such a stupid opinion. Women don’t have their nails done for amusement, nor do they need to spend their lives consciously trying to attract a man. As if finding a man is the ultimate goal, and a woman’s only job in life.
Please, go back to trying to attract a man.

Graykeller – did your mom not tell you if you don’t have anything nice to say don’t say anything at all? Quite taking up our time and trying to amuse yourself with this worthless non-sence.

I was able to my hands on a sample box of these polish strips. I’m not one that usually polishes my nails as I am a stay at home mother of four. My hands seem to stay in water. I can paint my nails and the next day they will be chipped and look awful! These polish strips have been on my nails for 4 days and they still look amazing. They were so easy to put on as well. I have the cheetah print and yes I am a 27 year old women and I have gotten a TON of compliments! I have told everyone I know that these are a must have.

They say they stay on for up to 10 days mine have lasted up to 3 weeks. Im IN LOVE. I also have put them on my toes. I get so many compliments!

I will never use regular polish again!! These are wonderful. They are very easy to apply and look like they were professionally done. I receive compliments all the time and many of my friends want them as well. They are easy to find though.

Where did you ladies find yours?

I got a box of the lace-patterned ones as a gift, they are fabulous. Lasted(and looked like a fresh, professional manicure) for 16 days. They would have lasted longer too, the only reason I removed it was because I was a bridesmaid in my cousin’s wedding and she insisted on us all having teal nails to match our hideous dresses.

I’ve looked at my local drug stores as well as Ulta & Sephora, but no luck!
And the Sally Hansen website doesn’t even acknowledge that they exist.
Help! I am NOT going back to painting my nails and waiting for them to dry, only to end up with nicks & chips anyway.

I found mine at CVS. The choices were limitied, they were practically wiped out. Isn’t it weird that Sally Hansen doesn’t even have the product on their website, but it’s available in stores already??

I’m pretty sure they do, because I’ve seen some people say they got it from there, but if not, check your local CVS, Duane Reade, Rite Aid or Walgreens! I got mine at CVS and I fell in love with them! I am so glad I got them!

I love these! I hears about them from a friend and decided to try them. After having them on for only one day, I’ve gotten so many compliments. I love the sparkle ones, and also the intricate designs, but wish there there were also more wintery colors. A lot of the solids were neon, but I would love if Sally would come out with dark burgendys and black (which is what I usually get my nails done with). Just an idea! If they come out with more generic colors I will never use regular nail polish again!

I work at Kmart and while setting up displays at the cosmetics counter, I noticed these Sally Hansen nail strips. I thought they were so adorable but I never purchased any since I was a little iffy on the quality of them. But thanks to these reviews, I’ve decided to give them a go and they are wonderful! The cheetah and zebra prints are my favorite. Everytime someone asks where I got them done, I point them right over to the Sally Hansen display. ;)

These are the coolest thing ive ever seen! I am a total beauty fanatic and I tend to change my hair and nails religiously. I spend so much time painting my own french tips and detailing tiny designs on them with expensive salon paints just for them to chip in a day or two. Never again! I absolutely love these and have got so many complements. Please dont ever quit making these.

I bought mine at Kmart. I must be the oddball….I liked them when I put them on last night but after I got out of the shower this morning 3 nails came off. I just went ahead and peeled off the other nails, which was way too easy. I love the idea, they just need to stay on better.

TRY DOING A CLEAR COAT RIGHT BEFORE APPLING THEM, PRESS THEM ON SO THEIR SNUG, THEN ONCE YOU TRIM THE END OFF, DO ONE MORE CLEAR COAT, THEY LAST FOR WEEKS.

I’m usually pretty willing to try something just to see if it works. On a whim, I tried these and not only did they look great and last for over a wk w/0 a single chip but I got more compliments on them then anything else that I’ve tried! I actually bought two more styles last night.

    • melissa 09/02/2011 at 5:05 pm · Reply

they cost about $10 depending where you go. At CVS they were 10.49 but I heard they are 9.99 elsewhere, maybe Walgreens?

i got mine at cvs, there was a $2 off coupon in the paper this week plus you get two CVS Extra Bucks back when you buy them so it is like getting them for $6 at CVS.

    Thank you Ron

      THEY JUST PEEL OFF

  26. BECKI 07/03/2011 at 8:49 pm · Reply

I got them from a friend, so i tried one on my pinkie finger because i dont ever paint my nails, but my 2 year old always wants her’s done and i hate that smell around her so we dont get to paint nails often. so after trying it on myself it was just to easy, so i put them on her, and they look so cute, and i didn’t have to have that smell around her for 20 to 30 minutes. put them on, did a tiny clear coat and done. love them, worth it!

I love thee things… so i saw these in a mag. but when i went to the store to get them they were ten dollors.. i only wanted to pay like 3 or 4… so i passed them up… later there was something like it at the dollor store for a dollor. i got them and tryed them. the dollor store ones are made of plastic and dont work. so i got rid of those. later on i sold my old gamboys (the sp and ds light) with lots of games. i got 86 bucks. i saw them in the store again and could not deside to buy them or not. but i did buy them. i bought collide-o-scope and kitty kitty. i like kity kity beter so i put that one away to use later. i use collied-o-scope first to make sure i know how to use them first before i opened and used the kitty kitty. it was about and hour before i was done and then i put a top coat over top. i love them. i can even go swiming with them on the weekends. i give them five stars… p.s i am 12 years old.

I read about this Sally Hansen nail strips and asked my brother and sis-in-law who happen to be in the States to buy for me. Yah, they managed to find and bought 4 designs for me, it was practically sold out. Can someone please let me know if it is better to put a base coat and then a top coat? Is it easy to put on if there is a base coat?
I tried those from Sephora but it was abit difficult to put on hence it turns out not snugly affixed. Thanks.
