My London: Andrew Marshall – co-founder of Jack&Me

INTERVIEWS | | Leave a Comment

Cofounder of Jack&Me, Andrew Marshall, started his career in Fashion and luxury with Dunhill in the mid eighties working in both the London head office and in Japan. In 1995 he moved to sister brand Montblanc to oversee the communications function through a massive period of change with the launch of watches and leather goods. Whilst in HK Andrew moved to Gucci to run the Asia Pacific watch and jewellery business.

On returning to the UK Andrew took a short term assignment at MD for quintessential British footwear brand Oliver Sweeney where he restructured the business behind the opening of a bond street flagship store and department store openings in the US.

In 2007 Andrew took on the CEO role at Links of London where during the following three years the business saw sales double and the brand establish a firm leadership position in Affordable Luxury.

Jack&Me was born out of his personal experience of finding it rather difficult to buy shoes for his son. Jack&Me celebrates those shared experiences that are so precious, providing both fathers and sons with quality, stylish and complementary footwear they could enjoy together.

As well as cofounding Jack & Me Andrew is also currently working for Value Retail overseeing a portfolio of fashion outlet centre’s across Europe.

We caught up with Andrew for the latest in our ‘My London’ interview series.

Favourite neighbourhood:

I am most relaxed when cycling along the Thames path from Putney to Richmond, or indeed, spending time with Giacomo at Fulham FC (Craven Cottage).

Favourite place for brunch:

Giacomo and I spend quality time together chewing over ‘life’ at the Breakfast Club in Battersea or Brew in Wimbledon Village, sometimes we invite Cristina too.

Best coffee in London:

It has to be Rapha in Soho or Caravan in Kings Cross for both coffee and atmosphere.

Favourite gallery or museum:

Saatchi Gallery as it constantly has exhibitions that both Giacomo and I can enjoy in a short space of time. The V&A always presents relevance and quality.

Tell us a secret:

It wouldn’t be a secret any more …… but I met Princess Diana twice and was completely blown away at her royal presence but unbelievably ‘real’ conversation.

Favourite place to shop:

Both Giacomo and I love to visit most outlet centres as quality, brand and value are all important to us (but I would say that wouldn’t I).

Favourite place to find inspiration:

Watching people on the streets of soho, where it seems anything goes. Or, I subscribe to many ‘fashion news alerts’ that keep me up to speed.

Best London destination for a date:

My wife always enjoy Lauceston Place for its intimate setting, amazing service and fabulous food. Another place we enjoy is comedy at Banana Cabaret in Balham.

Favourite park:

Has to be Wimbledon Common first for the true feeling of being in the country yet only 25 mins from the west end, or Hyde Park for the people watching.

Favourite food market:

Street food at Brick Lane is totally awesome and creative. Harrods food hall is always a journey of discovery.

Your sanctuary in the city:

The Arts Club is a wonderful place to escape, as is the Wolsley.

What inspires you?

Instagram and Pinterest are very informative and full of ideas but for true inspiration I have to give credit to my son Giacomo and his ‘mates’.

This season I’m loving:

Sneakers with everything …………. and of course mens tailoring in deconstructed/relaxed fabrics.
