For her first solo engagement since becoming a Royal, the Duchess of Cambridge paid a visit to the Lucian Freud Portraits exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery, wearing a tweed coat dress by defunct British brand Jesire.

The 30-year-old, who has a degree in Art History, was made patron of the gallery last month along with various other charities. Her husband Prince William is currently completing search and rescue missions in the Falkland Islands, leaving Kate to tour the Lucian Freud exhibition alone, accompanied by the artist’s daughters Esther and Bella.

Clarence House have also confirmed to WWD that the Duchess is set to pose for a portrait at some time in the future to add to the gallery’s collection.
