We’ve loved tuning into the London 2012 Olympics and seeing Britain’s Royals in the crowd, but we’ve particularly enjoyed seeing Kate Middleton getting into the spirit of the London 2012 Olympics wearing some seriously stylish outfits.
Kate was first seen during the Opening Ceremony, rocking a sleek ice-blue coat dress by the great British designer Christopher Kane, whilst soaking in the creative vision of Danny Boyle.
Just two days later the Duchess of Cambridge was spotted taking her seat at the eventing cross-country equestrian event in London’s Greenwich Park (despite the fact she’s allergic to horses!), with husband Prince William and his brother Prince Harry, to cheer on their competing cousin Zara Phillips. Kate went for a simple white Team GB shirt, a navy blazer by Smythe and coordinating jeans – J Brand no doubt! – and a pair of navy cork wedges by Stuart Weitzman.
Later that evening, Kate attended the UK’s Creative Industries reception at the Royal Academy of Arts, wearing a £835 grey dress by London-based designer Roksanda Ilincic, with simple cream court shoes and earrings by Kiki McDonough. She was joined at the event by David Cameron and fashion big names in the form of Vivienne Westwood, Lily Cole and Lulu Kennedy.
On day four Kate was back at Greenwich Park with William and Harry, wearing the same Smythe blazer, skinny jeans and Stuart Weitzman wedges as the day before, but this time pairing the ensemble with a nautical striped vest top and a handy umbrella to ward off the rain. She was back to cheer on fellow Royal Zara Phillips, who eventually took home a silver medal for Team GB in the show jumping team event.
Following the event, Kate threw on an Olympic-themed scarf to tour the Olympic village and meet some of Team GB’s top athletes. Apparently 2012 bronze medallist Rebecca Adlington even admired the Duchess of Cambridge’s shoes when they shook hands, saying: “They’re much nicer than the sports gear we’re wearing this week.” We’re sure Kate’s got plenty more fashion hits in store as the London 2012 Olympics unfolds.
Fast forward to day six, and Kate stepped out in the blue Stella McCartney dress she’d previously worn to an Olympic exhibition a few weeks ago, to cheer on Andy Murray at the men’s singles tennis quarter finals. Of course her navy Smythe blazer made another appearance!
But later that evening Kate was back to the casual, slipping into her trusty navy blue skinny jeans and a white Team GB polo top for a night of cycling at the Olympic Velodrome.
On day seven, the Duchess of Cambridge looked pretty in polka dots wearing a black and white spotty t-shirt under a £69.99 red blazer from high street store Zara, to cheer on Team GB swimmer Rebecca Adlington.
But Kate was soon back to repping Team GB, this time in a cornflower blue polo top to cheer on the British handball team. Despite the sportswear, she still managed to keep her gorgeous glossy locks in check.
The next day the Royal was off to join in the Olympic sailing action, wearing a Team GB jacket, skinny jeans and pillar box red Adidas trainers. Patriotic much?
