For their 40th-anniversary issue, W magazine are channeling a dark, gothic makeup look with three very different cover stars: Keira Knightley, Scarlett Johansson and Rooney Mara. Makeup maestro Val Garland took inspiration from the catwalks of Victor & Rolf, Bottega Veneta and Gucci and utilised a dark lip colour, kholed eyes and flawless porcelain skin. Each actress poses as a representation of the last four decades, with Rooney Mara going for a 70′s look, Keira Knightley as the 2000′s and Scarlett Johansson rocks the 90′s.
