Rebellious London-born band the Rolling Stones have had their signature tongue logo redesigned by American designer Shepard Fairey to mark their 50th anniversary.

The original logo, which incorporates lead singer Mick Jagger’s mouth, was created by John Pasche and appeared on the cover of their 1971 album Sticky Fingers. But Jagger reached out to designer Fairey for the project, which has seen him add text around the logo and slightly alter the trademark tongue. Shepard, who admitted he was “overwhelmed” at being personally approached by Jagger, has collaborated with the London rock band on album art before.
