Premium womenswear e-commerce site Avenue32.com has posted a closure notice on its website, confirming rumours that the business would be closing after new season stock was not uploaded to the site.
The message on the homepage reads: “After 6 wonderful years, we have decided to focus on new projects and so, sadly, Avenue32.com is now closed. Thank you for being such loyal customers.”
Avenue 32 was founded in 2011 by Roberta Benteler as a multibrand platform for established and emerging designers to sell their collections online. Brands on the site included Isabel Marant Etoile, Shrimps, and Eudon Choi.
In June, the business had announced it was up for sale in order to “improve its long-term positioning”.
Rival luxury e-commerce platforms including matchesfashion.com and farfetch.com have invested substantially in expansion in recent months and gained significant ground in the online premium fashion market.
