Dolce & Gabbana have collaborated with upmarket appliances company Smeg for the second time to produce a new collection of kitchen appliances.
The collection, named “Sicily is my Love”, includes coffee machines, toasters, juicers, kettles, blenders, and mixers, all decorated with bright traditional Sicilian designs.
Some of the folklore-inspired motifs worked into the hand painted designs include lemons, cherries, acanthus leaves, flowers, the ruins of the Greek Castor and Pollux Temple, and Mount Etna, surrounded by traditional triangular motifs called crocchi.
Last year D&G teamed up with Smeg to produce a limited edition collection of fridges hand painted by Sicilian artists.
The prices for the appliances have not yet been released but are expected to be in the range of $5,000 – $10,000, based on the $45,000 price tag for the previously released fridges. The range is expected to go on sale in Italy from December.
