#DRAWFASHION, an art exhibition and competition focusing on fashion illustration launched by the London College of Fashion, opens today to coincide with London Fashion Week.
The exhibition will take place at 18 Broadwick Street in Soho and winners will be announced on the closing night, 19th September, including a People’s Choice Award which will be voted for by exhibition visitors.
This year’s brief asked fashion design students to improve their practice through observation, abstract thinking, traditional and digital drawing techniques, and exploring other mediums including ceramics, metalwork, and tapestry.
#DRAWFASHION is supported by Cass Art, located directly opposite the exhibition, who will be providing vouchers worth £1,000 for three winners to buy art supplies.
As well as the main exhibition, a series of live fashion illustration events will take place at the exhibition venue and the Cass Art store. LCF fashion illustration students will live draw the collections showcased at London Fashion Week in the windows of each store front.
Rob Philips, Creative Director of the School of Design and Technology at LCF and founder of the exhibition said: “I wanted to create a project that ultimately promotes and advances drawing, encourages observation, plays with abstraction, acts an outlet of emotion and constructs and communicates identity. Through drawing we can move design on; personify style, mood, make a statement; progress traditions and construct new worlds to push fashion forward.”
The exhibition is open to the public from 11 – 6pm Monday to Saturday and 12 – 6pm Sunday and is free to enter.
