Cycling – a somewhat unglamorous affair. A combination of the hectic commute to work and the English weather leaves us more “windswept mess” than Hanneli Mustaparta cool. However, Hermès has announced it is launching a bike collection. That might just help with our image, if it weren’t for the fact that they are going to set you back a whopping £7,500. Le Flâneur d’Hermès and Le Flâneur sportif d’Hermès feature lightweight carbon fiber frames, hydraulic disc brakes, 8 or 11 gears, and leather saddles. They come in a range of three colours.
The bikes are not designed simply for show either, François Doré (head of the project) has said: “We set out to make a real bike, not a decorative object. It had to be simple, efficient, easy to use, pleasant and elegant.”
