Karl Lagerfeld’s Siamese kitten, Choupette, has two personal maids (one for night, one for day), eats at the table and knows how to use an iPad.
The kitten was given to Lagerfeld by his model muse Baptiste Giabiconi and the designer even has the maids keep a diary of Choupette’s behaviour and mood when he isn’t there himself.
“She has lunch and dinner with me on the table, with her own food. She doesn’t touch my food. She doesn’t want to eat on the floor. She sleeps under a pillow and she even knows how to use an iPad. She has two personal maids, for both night and day. She is beyond spoiled,” he told WWD.
Lagerfeld even gets his maids to keep a diary of little Choupette’s moods, movements and eating behaviour if he’s not with her. “In the nine months, we already have almost 600 pages…I think it could be funny to make a little book of Choupette’s diary.”
Karl continued to explain that he thinks the act of humanising pets is ”circuslike”, and that we won’t be seeing Choupette sporting Chanel tweed any time soon.
