Following in Stella McCartney’s footsteps, Dame Vivienne Westwood has designed a series of quirky t-shirts for this year’s Comic Relief appeal.

The t-shirts are a mix of history and comedy, featuring black and white images of iconic characters, including William Shakespeare, Hogarth’s “The Laughing Audience”, a punk, an aristocratic Louis XV1 grande dame and Rowan Atkinson as ‘Edmund’ and Miranda Richardson as ‘Queenie’ from the Blackadder television series. Each character is customised with the trademark red nose and the t-shirts are made completely from Fairtrade cotton.

The best part though is the ad campaign that goes with the appeal. A range of celebrities have showed their support by posing in the t-shirts, including Sienna Miller, Emilia Fox, Helena Christensen, David Walliams, John Cleese, Nicola Roberts, Ellie Goulding, James Corden and David Gandy. That’s one hell of an endorsement!

The tops are available today from TK Maxx and are priced between £5.99 and £14.99, with all proceeds going to Comic Relief.
