Womenswear brand Seasalt has released its Spring Summer 2019 collection, inspired by the brand’s home of Cornwall and sisters Vanessa Bell and Virginia Woolf.
The London-born sisters enjoyed carefree childhood summers in St Ives. Their days spent swimming in the sea, walking at West Penwith, and rockpooling at Porthminster Beach were described by Virginia as “the best beginning to life conceivable”
For the SS19 collection, Seasalt’s designers took inspiration from the works of Vanessa Bell and Virginia Woolf, along with the colours of Cornish summers, to create an artistic and literary-inspired collection.
The season’s prints reference the places where the two spent their most memorable times including the crashing waves at Godrevy lighthouse, and the floral gardens and vibrant interiors at Charleston House. Colours are taken from the gorse blooms and granite at Gurnard’s Head, the streets and studios of St Ives, and the tones used in Vanessa Bell’s paintings.
With jackets, knitwear, dresses, tops, and bottoms in complementary colours and prints, the collection represents an easy-to-wear wardrobe that is reminiscent of vintage Cornish summers.
The collection is available online at seasaltcornwall.co.uk and from selected retailers. Items are priced from £22.95 for leggings to £140 for coats.
