Aldwyn Boscawen founded his eponymous brand at the age of 28 after becoming one the country’s few male pedicurists.
Aldwyn & Sons was born and threw open its doors for the very first time in November 2018 in London’s Fitzrovia. The unique space can be found at the back of the acclaimed Sharps Barber & Shop on 9 Windmill Street and offers a menu of manicure and pedicure treatments, totally tailored for the modern man.
Aldwyn & Sons is an environment for the quintessentially British Gentleman and seeks to change men’s attitudes towards footcare and the way it is provided.
We caught up with Aldwyn for the latest in our ‘My London’ interview series.
Favourite neighbourhood:
Richmond, I often walk in Richmond park. I love a good pub lunch or walk along the river there. You can really feel like you have escaped London while still being in the city.
Favourite place for brunch:
The Wolseley. I have a great friend who I meet for breakfast there to talk business. Its great food, proper service and gives you that drive to start the day.
Best coffee in London:
Sharps Barber & Shop (Fitzrovia), Rag & Bone Coffee recently took over the coffee counter and they have great coffee.
Favourite gallery or museum:
The Guards Museum in Wellington Barracks. I have many memories of going there and it still amazes me every time I look around.
Tell us a secret:
I have terrible commuter ‘Road Rage’. I do not like people getting in my way when I am trying to get to somewhere. A lot of eye rolling!
Favourite place to shop:
Auction Houses/Antiques shops. There are so many wonderful items that can be found. You can go looking for a table and end up bidding on a suit of armour.
Favourite place to find inspiration:
The City, it sounds odd – but there is a huge buzz being in the city with its feel of ruthless business.
Best London destination for a date:
I think being single is testament to clearly not knowing ‘the best’. I really do like Mr Fogg’s Residence just off Berkeley Sq though.
Favourite park:
Richmond Park, I grew up next to Battersea Park so I feel guilty saying this! I think its so great having the Deer in Richmond also.
Favourite food market:
I once went to Kerb Clubhouse, They have some great street food stalls and do a really cool space.
Your sanctuary in the city:
Craven Cottage, home of the mighty Fulham Football Club. Not much of a Sanctuary this season though!
What inspires you?
The chance to build something that will outlive me. Whether that is a brand or making an impact to the way people live their lives.
