Actors Michaela Cole, Penelope Cruz, pop megastar Dua Lipa, tennis legend Roger Federer have been announced as the hosts of this years Met Gala, whose theme will be “In Honour of Karl”.
The dress code pays homage to the late Karl Lagerfeld, a top designer for decades who helmed major fashion houses including Chanel, Fendi, Balmain and Chloe, as well as his own eponymous label.
The glamorous event, famously nicked-named ‘the first Monday in May’, will once again see some of fashion and entertainments biggest names parade through New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art in extravagant outfits.

This years accompanying exhibit at the museum’s Costume Institute will feature the show Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty, which is set to include 150 of German designers pieces, as well as a selection of his sketches.
“This immersive exhibition will unpack his singular artistic practice, inviting the public to experience an essential part of Lagerfeld’s boundless imagination and passion for innovation,” Max Hollein, a director at The Met, said in a press release.
The 2022 Met Gala took place on May 2nd. After the 2020 Met Gala was cancelled due to the pandemic, the Costume Institute announced a two-part version for 2021 and 2022 – the first part took place on September 13th.
The 2023 Met Gala will take place on Monday, May 1st.
