Best Saunas in London 2026: From Lidos to Rooftop Cabins
First came cold water therapy. Then wild swimming. Now the best saunas in London have quietly become the city’s most compelling wellness obsession — and the scene has exploded. We’re no longer talking about a few eccentric wooden boxes tucked behind leisure centres. In 2026, London’s sauna offering spans rooftop cabins, floating barges, railway arches, Russian baths and open-air lidos. And most of them cost less than a round of drinks. The health case for contrast therapy — moving between heat and cold — is well established. The claimed benefits include stress relief, improved circulation, reduced blood pressure, muscle recovery and even longevity. But honestly? The real reason Londoners keep coming back is simpler than that. It just feels incredible. If you’re planning a trip out of London, the British Sauna Society directory is worth bookmarking for the best options across the UK. But for now, here’s where to go in the city. Get your swimwear ready. It’s time to bask.

The Best Saunas in London (2026)

The Finnish Church

Best for: An authentic Finnish sauna experience The self-proclaimed best Finnish sauna in London, and it’s hard to argue. Set inside an actual Finnish church in Rotherhithe — a genuine community hub for Finns living in the UK — this is exactly what sauna should be: communal, unpretentious and genuinely restorative. After your session, the café sells Finnish delicacies including cinnamon buns, Karelian pies, rye bread and Salmiakki (salty liquorice). A treat all round. Location: Rotherhithe Price: £12 per person (public). Private hire from £25 for two (weekdays), £28 weekends. Book: The Finnish Church

Community Sauna Baths

Best for: Outdoors, social atmosphere, great value Community Sauna Baths set out to revive British bathing culture, and they’re doing exactly that. The flagship Hackney Wick site breathes new life into a 1930s public baths building — six differently shaped wooden saunas surround a communal garden, with cold plunge options in repurposed whiskey barrels and metal bathtubs, both temperature-controlled. Cold showers round things out. It’s fun, social and genuinely affordable. They’ve also expanded to Stratford, with pop-ups in Peckham and South Bermondsey. Locations: Hackney Wick, Stratford (plus pop-ups in Peckham and South Bermondsey) Price: From £8.50 (60-min morning), £10 (90-min off-peak), £15 (evenings/weekends). £100 private group hire. Book: Community Sauna Baths

Sauna Social Club

Best for: A social night out with heat on the side Peckham’s Sauna Social Club turns the wellness format into something genuinely social — and a little more interesting than a standard sweat session. Set in a railway arch, it pairs saunas and outdoor cold plunge pools with breathwork, meditation, yoga and an alcohol-free bar. On Friday and Saturday nights, DJs take over. It’s the sauna as a night out, and it works. Location: Peckham Book: Sauna Social Club

Rooftop Saunas at Netil House

Best for: Views and a private session A cluster of four hand-crafted aspen wood cabins on the roof of Netil Corner, next to London Fields. Each booking gives your group sole access to a cabin, near floor-to-ceiling views of the East London skyline, a private cool-down space, a fire pit and a glass of wine. Bucket waterfall showers and plunge barrels handle the cold contrast. Once you’re done, the Netil360 rooftop bar is right next door — and sauna guests skip the queue. Location: London Fields Price: £11 / £16.50 / £22 for 30 / 60 / 90 mins Book: Rooftop Saunas

Saunos

Rooftop Saunas Netil House London Fields Best for: A floating sauna at a very reasonable price Yes, a sauna on a barge. Saunos moors in Islington and offers one of the more unusual contrast therapy experiences in the city. The setting is stripped back and genuinely charming — the kind of thing that sounds gimmicky until you’re actually sitting there watching the canal go by from inside a hot wooden box. It’s also notably good value for money, which makes it easy to recommend. Location: Islington Book: Saunos

Banya No.1

Banya No.1 Russian Sauna Hoxton London Best for: A traditional Russian Banya — and an experience One of the few authentic Russian banyas in London. A basic package gets you the steam sauna, plunge pool, bucket showers and access to the licensed lounge café for Russian delicacies (and yes, vodka). The signature treatment is parenie: a vigorous rub-down using bundles of birch, oak and eucalyptus twigs — designed to drive heat deep enough that the cold plunge afterwards feels like a genuine release. It’s intense, it’s not for everyone, but it’s genuinely unlike anything else on this list. Locations: Hoxton and Chiswick Price: £85–£175 depending on package Book: Banya No.1

Sauna & Plunge

Best for: A modern social wellness session in East London Shoreditch’s Sauna & Plunge does exactly what it says — but does it well. This is a modern, social wellness centre with a clean aesthetic and a crowd that takes contrast therapy seriously without taking itself too seriously. Mist showers, mocktails, and rainbow-hued lighting give it a distinctly contemporary edge. Good for a solo session or a small group. Location: Shoreditch Book: Sauna & Plunge

Parliament Hill Lido

Parliament Hill Lido Sauna London Best for: The best bargain in London An unheated 50m outdoor pool on Hampstead Heath — plus a large communal sauna in a shipping container to the side. Entry costs £3.30 and sauna access comes with it. Use the lido as your plunge pool, stay as long as you like, and then walk straight onto the Heath or into the cafés at Gospel Oak. There’s simply no better value. Location: Hampstead Heath / Gospel Oak Book: Parliament Hill Lido

Brockwell Lido

Brockwell Lido Sauna South London Best for: South London’s bargain, plus brunch The South London equivalent of Parliament Hill. Brockwell Lido offers an unheated 50m pool, a cylindrical outdoor sauna (open in cooler months) and a mixed indoor sauna and jacuzzi open year-round. At £3.30 entry, the sauna alone is worth the trip. But the real draw — especially in summer — is the café. With seating spilling into the lido area and a strong brunch menu, it has a genuine holiday-by-the-pool energy. Costa del Brixton, no passport required. Location: Brixton / Herne Hill Book: Brockwell Lido

ARC

Best for: Contrast therapy with a wellness-first approach ARC in Canary Wharf is a communal contrast therapy club that pairs saunas and ice baths with mindfulness classes. It’s a more structured offering than most on this list — and that’s the point. If you want to approach heat and cold as a genuine practice rather than a one-off treat, ARC provides the framework and the community to do it properly. Location: Canary Wharf Book: ARC

Lowlu

Best for: An open-air session in North London A newer arrival in Kentish Town, Lowlu offers a refreshing open-air sauna setup with dedicated social and silent spaces — so you can choose the atmosphere that suits you. It’s a thoughtful setup that acknowledges that some people want to chat after a round in the heat, and some absolutely do not. Location: Kentish Town Book: Lowlu
