The Thinking Behind the Pairing
Bunta Beer founder Gunikka Ahuja says the brand set out to give non-alcoholic beer a more serious role at the table. She describes it as a premium, flavour-led pairing, not just a substitute for alcohol.
Chef Surender Mohan, Culinary Director at LSL Capital, which owns Bombay Bustle, approached the collaboration from a similarly food-first angle. He doesn’t drink alcohol himself, so he’s always looking for drinks that genuinely complement a meal. He found that Bunta’s clean, refreshing character worked well against the bold spices and regional flavours of the Bustle Bowls.
Asked to choose her own favourite pairing, Ahuja points to the Grand Punjab Bowl. She describes the saag as a dish tied to family meals growing up. The Bunta Beer alongside it, she says, keeps the richness comforting but still light.
