The British Fashion Council (BFC) has announced social media platform TikTok as the Principal Partner of the upcoming Fashion Awards 2021.
As part of the new partnership, the two organisations work together to evolve The Fashion Awards as a “global entertainment platform, celebrating fashion’s role at the intersection of culture”. New propositions will see the annual events format change to include awards, performances and will highlight unique cultural moments from the past year.
Notable prizes to be presented include fifteen 2021 Leaders of Change, Designer of the Year, BFC Foundation Award, Outstanding Achievement and the Isabella Blow Award for Fashion Creator.
In the hope of creating deeper cultural connectivity between all communities, by telling stories that highlight the collaboration between fashion, music, film, art and technology, the awards will be available through global streaming and platform amplification, in a bid to expand the event’s connectivity and reach new audiences.
The Fashion Awards Red Carpet livestream will be broadcasted on the newly launched Fashion Awards TikTok account – bringing the experience and excitement to a global audience via a LIVE broadcast, whilst using TikTok’s unique tools and features to drive real-time engagement, offering fans of the event the opportunity to experience The Fashion Awards Red Carpet like never before.
Caroline Rush, BFC Chief Executive commented in a statement: “We are thrilled to welcome TikTok as the Principal Partner of The Fashion Awards 2021. Understanding the changing nature of fashion and leading the way in technology and innovation has always been at the heart of what the British Fashion Council does. As The Fashion Awards return on November 29th, we look forward to working with TikTok on expanding the event’s global reach, opening it up to new audiences and celebrating exceptional individuals and businesses that have made significant contributions to the global fashion community.”
Whilst Rich Waterworth, the General Manager of TikTok Europe, added: “We are delighted to be the Principal Partner for The Fashion Awards. This iconic event and evening of entertainment will be LIVE streamed on TikTok, allowing our community to experience the magic of the Red Carpet like never before, as we take a moment to celebrate the very best of British and international fashion culture. This year fashion has thrived on TikTok, from our partnership with BFC NEWGEN which saw the future of British design talent come to TikTok to share their creativity, to the emergence of unique trends and style movements ignited by our creator community. Fashion really has found a home on TikTok.”
