The Good Clothes Show, launching on 20th – 22nd September at Birmingham’s NEC, is an entirely new event that draws inevitable comparisons to the former Clothes Show Live which ran for twenty years until 2014, and inspired many British youngsters to pursue a career in the industry.
Brand new three days sustainable fashion festival, The Good Clothes Show, has announced the latest talks programme signings including: Emma Slade Edmonson, Patrick Grant, Brett Staniland, Clare Press, Lauren Bravo and Tori Tsui.
In a partnership with Select Model Management, scouts from the agency will be on the ground at the show in September giving aspiring models an opportunity to visit the Select Lounge and find out more about what’s involved in a career in modelling.
The Good Show is on a self-prescribed mission to inspire positive change within the mainstream market by providing a bridge between pop culture and sustainable fashion. Presenting alternative ways to enjoy shopping for, and engaging with fashion, the packed three-day programme features Silent Cinema screenings, a Big Swap, styling sessions, book signings – and of course – the ubiquitous catwalk shows in partnership with Select.
The first 25 visitors through the doors each day will receive a complimentary pair of shoes from British footwear brand, Good News Shoes.
Some familiar faces will be on the panel at the festival: Climate justice activist, researcher, and writer Tori Tsui will be joining Saturday’s talks programme hosted by poet and presenter Leena Norms; also joining on Saturday will be sustainability influencer, podcaster and fashion blogger Emma Slade Edmonson, alongside sustainability writer Lauren Bravo. Proceedings will be MC’d by presenter Annaliese Dayes, former Vogue Australia editor and Wardrobe Crises podcast creator, Clare Press hosts Saturday’s talks programme. Tiffanie Darke, writer, brand strategist and former editor of Sunday Times Style will moderate the Sunday session.
Fans of The Great British Sewing Bee can enjoy workshops lead by Jen Hogg and Mercedes Ferrari Plumridge; Patrick Grant will also be speaking on the main stage alongside sustainability campaigner and model Brett Staniland. Visitors can then have their books signed by the panellists, including Patrick Grant, at the show’s bookshop, in partnership with local independent book seller, The Heath.
