Isobel Ridley founded Lavender Hill Clothing in 2013 with the aim of creating simple, luxurious clothing made within the UK and Italy.
We caught up with Isobel for the latest in our ‘My London’ interview series.
Favourite neighbourhood:
Notting Hill/Westbourne Grove – I love wondering around the colourful streets and coming across small boutiques.
Favourite place for brunch:
The Butcher and Grill after walking around Battersea Park with my Scottie.
Best coffee in London:
Tom Tom on Elizabeth Street.
Favourite gallery or museum:
V&A or the Saatchi Gallery – it depends on what mood I am in!
Tell us a secret:
I’m dyslexic and I really can’t spell! Thank goodness for spell check..
Favourite place to shop:
This is tricky as there are so many wonderful places in London but I can usually be found around Notting Hill – there are still some great food stalls on Portobello Road on a Saturday and I love the village feel of Westbourne Grove.
Favourite place to find inspiration:
I tend to walk around London rather than catch the tube or bus as I find the cities architecture really inspirational there are some great hidden gems around Chelsea and Lincolns Inn.
Best London destination for a date:
A walk along the Thames ending up at Petersham nurseries for a long lunch.
Favourite park:
Battersea of course, but the Isabella Plantation in Richmond park is a close contender.
Favourite food market:
Pimlico Green, small producers travel in from all over the country on a Saturday – its great to meet people who are passionate about the food they make – I can highly recommend the Golden Cross goats cheese.
Your sanctuary in the city:
The Chelsea Physic Garden, I am a country girl at heart and I love the feel of the physic garden – it feels like I am at my parents house in Sussex!
What inspires you?
This is another tricky one. as lots of things inspire me, it could be a beautiful piece of fabric, an unusual building or a well written novel.
This season I’m loving:
Stripes – they are a classic and you can’t go wrong.
