Prada-owned footwear label Church’s has this week announced the arrival of its new capsule collection in collaboration with Off-White.
Designed by the late Virgil Abloh, the genderless Church’s x Off-White footwear collection initially made its public debut on the runway of the Off-White “Spaceship Earth: an Imaginary Experience” show at Palais Brongniart during Paris Fashion Week, and combines Abloh’s ‘Question Everything’ philosophy, with the “artisan tradition and stylistic history of the British footwear brand”.
The capsules first drop, the Burwood x Off-White, takes its name from Church’s Burwood style, which dates back to 1953, the classic full brogue Oxford with distinctive dovetail patterning emerges with a new, “contemporary identity”.
Black brushed calfskin replaces the shoe’s conventionally brown suede upper, and “Special Events” (screen-printed in white in Off-White’s signature script) adorns the outside of the shoe. A trademark Off-White hangtag underscores the style’s shared origins and serves as a nod to the rebellious nature of the streetwear brand.
The Burwood x Off-White is the first of two drops and is on sale now at Off-White stores, Church’s stores, and on church-footwear.com.
