Jimmy Choo has unveiled its new collaborative capsule collection with French fashion house Jean Paul Gaultier.
Co-designed by the brands respective creative directors, Sandra Choi and Florence Tétier, the Jimmy Choo x Jean Paul Gaultier collection pays homage to the rich archival legacies of both labels.
Building upon their shared values of empowerment, individuality, and femininity, a press release describes the capsule as being something of a “creative conversation” between the two fashion houses, as Choi and Tétier blend both brands’ DNA to produce a refined, yet rebellious footwear collection that exudes unapologetic glamour and one-of-a-kind style.
Highlights include the ‘London Via Paris’ statement wedges, with elongated toes, and transparent block heels etched with landmarks of both Paris and London, the Eiffel Tower and Big Ben.
Icons Only: Jimmy Choo x Jean Paul Gaultier Starring Kylie Minogue
The innovative collection is brought to life in a brand new ad campaign fronted by Australian pop icon Kylie Minogue, and shot by French photographer, and styled by long-term friend Katie Grand in archival Gaultier.
“Fashion for me has always been about collaboration with like-minded creatives, and pure personal self-expression,” says Minogue in a statement. “Jean Paul Gaultier and Jimmy Choo have both been part of my fashion journey, and I’m thrilled to work with both of them to celebrate this exceptional collection. It’s our collective histories fusing, to create something fresh and new.”
Sandra Choi, Jimmy Choo’s creative director, expressed her pride in the collaboration, stating: “I am proud to say that Jimmy Choo is a name that has become part of pop culture. That’s true also of Jean Paul Gaultier, and of Kylie — we all speak beyond traditional confines, uniting different worlds, emblematic of female empowerment. That’s why Kylie was our first and only choice — she is truly iconic, modelling looks that unite the iconography of two houses and two cities, London and Paris.”
Whilst Florence Tétier, creative director at Jean Paul Gaultier, shared her perspective, adding: “Jimmy Choo is like the Gaultier of shoes — craft, meets rebellion. And Kylie is more than a musician — with a rich and deep history with both houses. When I think about design references and aesthetics, both our brands celebrate the strong female form framed through pop culture, a shared ideology that really stands out. Kylie is the embodiment of that.”
The Jimmy Choo x Jean Paul Gaultier collection is available in selected stores globally and online now.
