Gucci have tapped actor Paul Mescal, and current global brand ambassador Xiao Zhan to front its newest campaign marking the 70th anniversary of the Horsebit 1953 loafer design.
Overseen by the House’s creative director Sabato De Sarno, the sartorial images see both stars wearing the latest incarnation of the brands most sought-after shoe, which famously features a miniaturised horse bit (or a double ring connected by a bar), a leather composition and a low heel.
Designed to highlight “the timeless yet contemporary allure” of the iconic Horsebit style, the moccasin is altogether reimagined in diverse designs, from logo fabric loafers to leather moccasins

Whilst the two actors feature in separate ads, both appear “at ease” sporting various pieces from the Italian labels archive.
Zhan, photographed by Feng Li, wears forest green, brown and black iterations of the loafers with a white shirt, denim pants and a camel coat. Whilst Academy-award nominee Mescal, captured on film by Heji Shin, is seen wearing a white tee, green pants and black loafers.
In a nod to some of Mescal’s most talked about off-duty looks, in another shot, he wears powder blue short-shorts styled with a white vest, and a Gucci trench coat.
