Coming from a publishing background and having led the digital presence of some of the industry’s biggest fashion titles, including Dazed and The Face, Bridget Mills-Powell has recently joined fashion shopping platform Lyst as Content Director.
Established in 2010 from a small shed in Shoreditch London, Lyst’s journey first began when founders Chris Morton and Seb Trepca set out on their mission to create a way for people to find the fashion they always wanted.
Fast forward 10 years, and the hugely popular fashion platform now allows users to search thousands of online fashion stores at once, bringing together 5 million products from 12,000 of the world’s leading brands and retailers in one place.
In her current role as Content Director, Bridget serves as the driving force behind the brands new and exciting vision for creating innovative content across the app, and each of its social media accounts.
An original East London insider, Mills-Powell is the go-to person for all things fashion, music and pop culture.
We caught up with Bridget for the latest in our ‘My London’ interview series.
Favourite neighbourhood:
I have to say Clapton in Hackney, as I’ve lived here for almost 10 years, and everything you need is in the E5 radius.
Favourite place for brunch:
I’m very lazy, so my favourite places are ones I can walk to (see my point above re: E5!) London Fields area has always got a nice buzz on the weekends, my favourites around that area are LARDO, Mare Street Market, or any of the little cafes near there and along the canal.
Best coffee in London:
The one my husband brings me in bed every morning… I married very well!
Favourite gallery or museum:
I’ve always felt most inspired when I’m at Tate Modern in London, or at the MoMA in New York.
Tell us a secret:
I talk and laugh in my sleep every night, according to my trusted sources.
Favourite place to shop:
The Lyst App, of course.
Favourite place to find inspiration:
Running with headphones on full volume.
Best London destination for a date:
Anywhere that serves good cocktails. Some of my London favourites over the years have been Lounge Bohemia and Callooh Callay for cosy dim-lit dates. In the summer I’m a total sucker for anywhere with a bar and a view.
Favourite food market:
Chatsworth Road Market is great to potter through at the weekends.
Your sanctuary in the city:
My bathtub.
What inspires you?
People with good energy and a ready laugh.
This season I’m loving:
The joyful dressing trend: the bold colours, psychedelic prints and tie-dye. I love how fashion can respond with positivity after the really difficult period of the pandemic.
