Foday Dumbuya of Labrum London set the NEWGEN LFW runway alight this past weekend, staging a profound and deeply moving presentation of the menswear brand’s AW22 collection.
Influenced both Dumbuya’s West African and British heritage, the Poetics of Movement collection takes literal inspiration from its title, by exploring the different connotations and synonyms of the word ‘movement’ as both a rallying noun, and borderless verb.
Looking at the essence of human survival, and attempting to demonstrate how ‘movement lies at the very core of us all’, the name makes a statement – celebrating the beauty of migration, and uplifting those who brave the ‘tides, the winds and societal limitations’, to help establish and empower future generations.
LABRUM LONDON: ‘Poetics Of Movement AW22’
With fabrics sourced from artisans in Foday’s native city of Freetown in Sierra Leone, the Poetics of Movement collection combines razor-sharp tailoring with a vibrant colour palette of oranges, ocean greens and vibrant yellows.
Accessories featured in the range were produced in collaboration with London-based luxury leather goods brand Nosakhari, and include a folio, a crossbody and a heavy duty, oversized tote.
