KENZO to sponsor bamboo building scholarship in Bali

KENZO Fragrances has announced that entrepreneur and Bamboo U founder Orin Hardy will be the face of their latest fragrance KENZO HOMME INTENSE.

Son of Green School founder John Hardy, Orin founded Bamboo U as a global apprenticeship in green architecture and design using bamboo as a sustainable building material to create innovative building designs.

KENZO travelled to Bali in February 2021 to visit the Bamboo U project and create a scholarship for 10 students. These students will have their costs covered to travel to Bali and study with Orin Hardy with the aim of creating the next generation of designers, architects and engineers and create homes and buildings that allow people to connect with nature rather than overpower it.

KENZO has also named Orin Hardy as the new face of KENZO HOMME Eau de Toilette Intense, with the Bamboo U project embodying respect for nature, generosity, and creativity.

KENZO HOMME, the iconic scent first released in 1991, has been reimagined for 2021 with a bottle that reflects the bamboo symbol of the scent’s inspiration. The bamboo, which symbolises longevity and strength in Asian culture, is cast in vibrant blue glass, and is stamped with the KENZO logo. Its design reflects the bamboo’s natural strength, flexibility and simple elegance.

The KENZO HOMME fragrance is a marine-woody scent created by perfumer Quentin Bisch. The marine accord is reminiscent of sea salt in the air, while pink pepper represents the energy of daylight. Sandalwood adds a sensual warmth and fig enhances freshness. Vetiver completes the harmonious accord while the woody facets are enhanced with a hint of Akigalawood.

The fragrance further represents the sustainable nature of bamboo with its use of naturally derived alcohol, and sustainably sourced Haitian Vetiver and Australian Sandalwood.

The KENZO HOMME Eau de Toilette Intense bottle is created using 10% recycled glass and packaged inside an unbleached kraft cardboard box with FSC® certification and printed with bio-sourced inks.

The new fragrance is available now from at Boots priced at £53 from 60ml or £70 for 110ml.
