London Fashion Week was off to a very stylish start this morning and one of the opening shows was Jena Theo with their first on-schedule collection. Jenny Holmes and Dimitris Theocharidis, in the On/Off tent, presented designs made from casual fabrics in couture styles. Long dresses constructed out of puffer-jacket fabric, denim jackets cut on the bias with couture stitching, all in a muted colour palette.
The emphasis was definitely on billowing shapes; wide shoulders, wider sleeves, with minimal fabric over the leg. There was a predominance of denim and leather, signaling that our two favourite jackets from last year will remain a style staple for another season.

However, it was the cuts and proportions that defined the collection. Jena Theo have pushed the boundaries of pattern cutting to create some truly modern silhouettes. Denim jackets were tailored in the style of bomber-jackets, complete with hoods and nontraditional seeming patterns. The collection presented a wearable form of high-fashion; street couture. Jena Theo have striped back the idea of tailoring to create a remastered aesthetic, throwing away the patterns book, to rediscover the essence of fashion.
