Attendance records for a fashion exhibition at New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art have been well and truly shattered, as 582,000 people have reportedly visited the ‘Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty’ exhibition. As it draws to a close this weekend, the 3-month exhibition has drawn fashion and art fans alike to view creations by the late Alexander McQueen.
To meet demand, it will even stay open until midnight on it’s final two days this Saturday and Sunday. Since Alexander McQueen committed suicide last February fans have flocked to the exhibition to catch a glimpse of his greatest fashion creations from his short-lived career.
To date the most popular fashion exhibit at The Met is 2008’s ‘Superheros: Fashion and Fantasy’, which attracted 576,000 visitors. Now well and truly beaten, Savage Beauty is set to make the museum’s top 20 exhibitions ever this August.
