SAMPLE has announced that its Autumn market will be the first public event to be hosted at the new Design District in Greenwich Peninsula, with Worldwide FM DJ takeover and more.
The Design District is London’s first permanent space intended specifically for creative industries, and will be celebrating its opening throughout September with a full line-up of free events and experiences. The aim of SAMPLE is to provide a platform for independent brands and creatives to get more exposure for their products, with a focus on sustainable design and innovation.
Now in its 12 iteration, SAMPLE has become known for launching creative talent and some of London’s most exciting new sustainable fashion brands. As well as having the chance to shop for fashion, art, and homewares from up-and-coming designers and independent brands, visitors to SAMPLE can also enjoy food and cocktails at Design District’s brand new dining experience, Canteen.
The biggest and best event line-up ever, with an exclusive series of talks and workshops exploring the future of the creative industries with leading industry expert panellists with sessions entitled: ‘You don’t know what you’ve got til it’s gone’, ‘COP26: Designers vs Climate Change’, ‘No progress without design’ and more. Voices taking part in SAMPLE’s series of talks including the likes of Jefferson Hack, Curator & Creative Director/ Co-Founder of Dazed & Another magazine, Caroline Norbury MBE: CEO, Creative England, Cat Drew: Chief Design Officer, Design Council & Joe Iles: Circular Design Programme Lead, Ellen MacArthur Foundation.
Also confirmed are an amazing line-up of DJs from Gilles Peterson’s Worldwide FM, including Cosmo Sofi, Megatronic and Tina Edwards, who will be taking over the turntables at SAMPLE Autumn, bringing their pick of global underground sounds to Greenwich Peninsula for one weekend only. Worldwide is an award-winning radio station who’s ambition to provide a platform to ‘undiscovered’ talent, valuing creativity, authenticity and passion over fame and elevating voices that deserve to be heard is shared by our hosts at Design District. Expect an eclectic mix of global underground music from across the world, as part of a free outdoor party in the new Design District spaces.
Some of the designers and makers selling at SAMPLE this Autumn include London-based jewellery brand Kam Creates, ethical crafts marketplace Artisan & Fox, and eco-conscious fashion label Edy & Bridge.
