Made to Measure Suits for Bitcoin – Why Bespoke Tailor Artefact London has embraced Cryptocurrency

Artefact London will soon be celebrating 5 years since its inception. In a relatively short time of operation, the boutique tailoring business has а lot to celebrate.

Its founder Tatyana Kozhevnikova was listed in Forbes 30 Under 30 2018 Class of Art & Culture for modernising Savile Row’s traditions. New Bond Street’s tailor was the first bespoke tailor in the world to offer payment with Bitcoins and other cryptocurrencies. Tatyana & the team have created suits for Mads Mikkelsen Carlsberg 2018 & 2019 campaigns.

The emerging bespoke tailoring service founded in 2016 has always been committed to innovation & keeping up with the changes in customer lifestyle & demands.

Made to Measure Suits for Bitcoins – First Bespoke Tailor to embrace Crypto Payments

As the value of Bitcoin & other tokens has soared, many early investors became millionaires overnight. At present converting crypto into cash isn’t always straightforward. Luxury items became a convenient way to cash out & turn your tokens into physical assets.

Artefact London started accepting cryptocurrency payments back in 2018 at the request of a regular customer frequenting London from South Africa.

Tatyana says crypto payments are popular for people living in countries with unstable banking systems. Her customers from some African & Latin American countries have appreciated the possibility to use e currency for payments.

Tailoring at the Cutting Edge of Fashion and Innovation

Artefact uses technology to streamline the process of traditional tailoring. Patterns are stored electronically and laser cut to individual body measurements for precision.

This process is not only more accurate than traditional hand cutting but helps reduce the time frame of getting a bespoke suit tailor-made. Resulting in high-quality bespoke suits at reasonable prices and in a shorter timeframe of 5-6 weeks, as opposed to 8-12 weeks that most Savile Row tailors work towards.

The Made to Measure Suit. How It Works.

The Made to Measure Suit Process is simpler than shopping online or brick & mortar.

  • You get access to thousands of fabrics in one place
  • The fit is perfectly tailored to your proportions
  • The style and finishing touches are fully customised to your needs

In-person appointments typically last 90 minutes, less than what you would spend shopping in retail. With an outcome that far supersedes a suit, you could buy off the peg.

The simple process is:

  1. Book your in-person consultation to choose your cloth, get measured and customise every aspect of your suit with Tatyana’s expert guidance
  2. Come for your first fitting in 5 weeks to refine the cut. The fitting only takes 20 minutes. The fit will be refined with alterations
  3. Collect your perfectly tailored suit in 4-5 days from your fitting
  4. Love the way you feel in your sharp made to measure suit!

We trialled the process. If a photo is worth more than a thousand words, here are a few to demonstrate just how impressive a tailor made suit at Artefact London looks.

1st fitting progress. Refinements are added to the cut from the back. At this stage the shoulders, chest, waist, jacket & sleeve length all around are on point. The trouser cut is perfect.

The suit can be dressed down if you wear suede loafers in muted colours paired with a well fitting polo shirt. Or go for an office classic with a crisp shirt and dark brown shoes.

Are Made to Measure Suits still relevant for work post the pandemic?

Lockdown has affected how and where we work, and what we wear as a result. Just as flexible working patterns have become the norm, dress codes at work have become more casual.

After over a year of lockdowns, restrictions, and working from home many have found a new appreciation for dressing well.

Now that the world is starting to reemerge post the pandemic, many are embracing the return to the office and the positive effect dressing up for work has on your self-perception, mood, and productivity.

Tatyana Kozhevnikova, Founder & Creative Director at Artefact London, has been working with clients on more casual suit styles. Her recent bespoke suits have seen more fabrics with texture and subtle patterns than ever before.

She has been working with clients on adapting their style with business & smart casual combinations. Using cloths such as lightweight flannels, linen mixes & mohairs to create suits that can be easily dressed up with a crisp white shirt for formal occasions or worn as separates in more casual settings.

A made-to-measure suit that is smart yet not overly formal for the work environment, making you look approachable has been a common customer request over the summer of 2021 and Tatyana is firm the trend will continue into 2022. She predicts a more formal suit style (peak lapels, solid dark colours) will start making a return in 2023 as business interactions start shifting back into the office more.
