Inclusive luxury fashion brand, Eradine launched in 2019 by founder Kiera Rigden, who designs feminine fashion for a more inclusive size spectrum. Following its launch, it soon became clear to Kiera that her mission was more than that. Faced with the greatest challenge that lies at the heart of the industry’s idealistic perception of ‘body norm’, Kiera made it her goal to launch a fashion brand with purpose. Often faced with the struggle of trying to find flattering and stylish outfits, Kiera Rigden found that there were few inclusive luxury fashion brands, designing pieces that are suitable for all sizes in the mid and luxury markets. Larger sizes available weren’t designed with size inclusivity in mind and instead appeared to be ‘scaled up’ versions of designs which didn’t fit well and as a result. With Eradine Kiera Ridgen seeks to challenge body standard norms within the industry seeking to focus on healthy body image and to highlight that “being beautiful” should never be at the expense of a healthy body or mind and that size inclusivity is key within the fashion industry.
We caught up with Kiera for the latest in our ‘My London’series.
Favourite neighbourhood:
It has to be Richmond-Upon-Thames. The riverside, the quaint stores, the amazing places to eat… Al Boccon Di’ vino! I love walking along the riverside, away from the hustle and bustle – it doesn’t really feel like you are in the city.
Favourite place for brunch:
The Wolseley – I am in awe of the fact that they serve Boiled Eggs & Soldiers, perfectly, every time!
Best coffee in London:
I am a coffee fiend… a bean aficionado – I’ve yet to find a cup of golden nectar outside of my kitchen that has ticked all the boxes… yet.
Favourite gallery or museum:
Victoria & Albert. When the building itself is a work of art, everything inside it is naturally amplified. I immerse myself in the history, marvelling in beauty of eras past.
Tell us a secret:
I am not a fan of pre caffeine dialogue. I envy people who wake up perky, I need a bit of quiet time before switching to full force.
Favourite place to shop:
There are so many amazing places to go in London but my favourite store is still Harrods. I tend to head straight up to the top floor (the perfumes) and work my way down, stopping for a shot of Sukoa on route, of course!
Favourite place to find inspiration:
The Blue Bridge in St James Park. On the rare occasions it is quiet, it feels like I have been transported to another time. The beauty of the architecture transcends the chaos of central London … it is, quite simply, breath-taking.
Best London destination for a date:
So may choices… Kitchen Table in Bubbledogs, Fitzrovia – James is a genius. Petrus, Knightsbridge for something more traditional.
Favourite park:
Kew Gardens
Favourite food market:
I adore going to Borough Market. Every time I go, I end up spending most of my time at The Olive Oil Co. Their Rustico Olive oil is heaven!
Your sanctuary in the city:
Deer watching in Richmond Park.
What inspires you?
Femininity, power and strength. It’s in the DNA of the brand – in every design, every collection – in the moments that inspire us as a design team, in the women we look up to, in the muses who represent our brand. I’m passionate about fashion with purpose, in changing the dialogue around body norms, in creating a trust that focuses on empowering and educating women.
This season I’m loving
Oscar De La Renta, the artistry, the beauty, the elegance… alas, not inclusive.
