Model, dancer and West End performer Sam Salter is fast becoming one of London’s most stylish and sought after entities – with his ultra-modern and innovative take on menswear fashion, elevating the category to a whole new level!
Having trained at the Sylvia Young Theatre School in London, and Laine Theatre Arts in Surrey, Sam has gone on to carve out quite the incredible career, performing in West End productions of Wicked, On The Town and Dick Whittington at The London Palladium, as well as touring the UK in productions of West Side Story and Mary Poppins.
Away from the stage, Sam uses his platform to speak out in support of causes close to his heart, lending his voice to raise awareness and normalise some of the most prevalent issues affecting young people today.
Fresh from completing a phenomenally successful world tour with New Adventures in Sir Matthew Bourne’s Swan Lake, Salter is now looking to the future and ready to begin work on a number of new and exciting projects!
We caught up with Sam for the latest in our ‘My London’ series.
Favourite neighbourhood:
Soho, London.
Favourite place for brunch:
You can’t beat The Breakfast Club cafes!
Best coffee in London:
That’s tricky to answer, but I’d have to say Soho House because they do a really dreamy oat flat white.
Favourite gallery or museum:
The Natural History Museum – iconic!
Tell us a secret:
The secret is, you have to bend the rules sometimes to get there.
Favourite place to shop:
Nordic Poetry in Bethnal Green – they always have some excellent pieces there.
Favourite place to find inspiration:
Spotify, my headphones, a cup of coffee and my garden on a sunny morning.
Best London destination for a date:
I think a walk of the South Bank is always a nice idea. Going on a walk is a great first date idea… because if you don’t fancy them at least you have a beautiful view! Plus, think cardio!
Favourite park:
That’s hard! Hampstead Heath, when the ponds are open and you can go in for a swim.
Favourite food market:
Borough Market.
Your sanctuary in the city:
Any comfortable sofa in Soho House.
What inspires you?
Amazing music that I resonate with. I also feel super inspired by my colleagues, taking their classes and learning new movement inspires me.
This season I’m loving:
Cooking, baking naughty goods and cycling around London on my bike – freedom!
