Multi-platinum selling recording artist Emeli Sandé delights fans this season with the surprise release of her brand new single More Of You – an infectious, uplifting collaboration with Ghanaian recording artist Stonebwoy, and British producer/songwriter Nana Rogues, that celebrates the joyous euphoria of falling head over heels in love with your soulmate.

As well as empowering fans and audiences the world over with tracks Next To Me, Breathing Underwater and the awe-inspiring Beneath Your Beautiful with Labrinth, Emeli is keen to harness the power of her platform for good, using her lyrics as a way to call for social change and equality, as well as lending her voice to champion a number of different causes and charities including Nordoff Robins, The Princes Trust and Elton John’s AIDS Foundation.
We caught up with Emeli for the latest in our ‘My London’ interview series.
Favourite Neighbourhood:
Probably Bethnal Green in the East End of London because it is genuinely so diverse – the people are really down to earth, and together there is a special creative edge and always something fun to do.
Favourite place for brunch:
Premises Cafè in Hackney. I used to rehearse there and they have the best breakfast and fry ups, and the staff are really lovely!
Best coffee in London:
Anywhere that does a banging Chai Latte!
Favourite gallery or museum:
It’s got to be the V&A – I really enjoyed the Frida Kahlo: Making Her Self Up exhibition.
Tell us a secret:
I am actually a pro ping-pong player; according to my ego…
Favourite place to shop:
I really love art supply shops! All of the potential for creativity excites me.
Favourite place to find inspiration:
I really enjoy people watching – particularly in Notting Hill; I find it very stimulating.
Best London destination for a date:
I would say Sky Garden – the view of London from up there is amazing, I love the plants, the restaurant is great and the service is always fantastic.
Favourite park:
Hampstead Heath, because, well… the location and scenery speaks for itself.
Favourite food market:
I always enjoy visiting Broadway Market in Hackney – I particularly love the truffle cheese stand.
Your sanctuary in the city:
My basement! My piano and I take refuge in there quite often.
What inspires you?
Life, love, family, and listening to great artists of the past.
This season I’m loving:
Having more time to work on self-improvement whilst in lockdown.
