French fashion label Karl Lagerfeld has unveiled its new sustainable accessories collaboration with supermodel, actress and activist Amber Valletta for spring 2021.
Featuring a variety of elegantly designed, über chic designer bags and accessories, all made from socially sustainable materials sourced with minimal ecological impact, the 11-piece capsule collection serves to honour Lagerfeld’s longstanding commitment to maintaining sustainability within the fashion industry.
Notable highlights in the collection include a sleek black, sophisticated folded tote, a recycled cotton wash-bag and a vegan leather version of the brand’s house signature K/Kushion bag, crafted from earthy green cactus leather and inspired by the childhood cushion that Lagerfeld used to take on his travels.
Profits from the K/Kushion bag will be donated to The Ocean Cleanup – a non-profit organisation that aims to rid the world’s ocean of plastic, supported by The Fashion Pact, a global coalition of fashion and textile companies that have committed to mitigating climate change.
Commenting on the collaboration in a statement released to accompany the collections launch, Valletta says: “To see it all coming to life is a great achievement and honour, I am convinced that Karl would have loved it. I love being able to continue his legacy – chic, bold and innovative. It was exciting to see how thoroughly the Karl Lagerfeld brand is researching sustainable practices and materials. They continue to impress me with their knowledge and commitment to design, and producing in a new and conscious way.”
