Milan Design Week rarely holds back. However, this April, Lexus moves beyond the expected with something more immersive than a standard showcase.
Introducing SPACE, a sensory-led installation inspired by the new Lexus LS Concept. It marks a global debut while also signalling a shift in how the brand approaches luxury and design.
A New Kind of Luxury, Built Around You
Luxury is evolving. Traditionally, it centred on ownership. Now, however, it leans more towards experience and personal connection.
With SPACE, Lexus explores personal space within a modern lifestyle. Rather than focusing only on physical surroundings, it considers how space supports clarity, comfort and everyday flow. As a result, the LS Concept is positioned not just as a vehicle, but as part of a wider lifestyle shift.
At the same time, mobility itself is changing. Cars are no longer defined by a single function. Instead, they are becoming flexible environments that support different moments throughout the day. Consequently, the lines between movement, work and downtime continue to blur.
Because of this, Lexus presents a vision where mobility feels more intuitive and integrated. Rather than simply transporting you, it adapts to how you live. Overall, SPACE reflects this shift in a way that feels considered and relevant.
Discover Your Space

Alongside the main installation, Discover Together 2026 develops the idea further. While SPACE sets the direction, this series introduces different interpretations of personal space.
This year, four installations, each built around the LS Concept, explore the theme across disciplines:
- Kyotaro Hayashi and Yumi Kurotani combine light, texture and sound to create immersive, sensory-led environments
- Guardini Ciuffreda Studio blends fashion, architecture and natural materials, resulting in tactile and organic spaces
- Random Studio focuses on interaction and technology, with environments that respond directly to visitors
- Meanwhile, a collective of Lexus designers and Japanese master artisans reinterprets traditional craftsmanship through a contemporary lens
Together, these works move beyond static display. Instead, they encourage visitors to engage more directly with the idea of space and how it fits into daily life.
Where to See It
Superstudio Più provides the backdrop, placing the exhibition in the centre of Milan’s Tortona district.
- Dates: 21 to 26 April 2026, with a media preview on 20 April
- Location: Via Tortona 27, Milan
- Entry: Open to the public
As Milan Design Week unfolds, this venue remains a key destination. Therefore, SPACE is likely to be one of the standout installations this season.
The Takeaway
Lexus is not simply presenting a concept car. Instead, it is exploring how design, technology and lifestyle connect.
As luxury continues to shift, experiences like SPACE feel increasingly relevant. Rather than focusing on objects alone, they consider how those objects fit into everyday life.
Ultimately, at Milan Design Week, SPACE offers a clear view of where mobility is heading. In this context, space is no longer just functional. Instead, it becomes personal, flexible and designed around the individual.
