Lexus Turns Milan Design Week Into a Moving Luxury Wardrobe for the Senses

At Milan Design Week, Lexus steps beyond automotive design. Instead, it enters the world of immersive luxury living. The result feels closer to couture than a traditional car showcase.

Titled Space, the exhibition reimagines the car interior. Here, it becomes a private members’ club on wheels. Comfort, craftsmanship and atmosphere take centre stage. At its core sits the LS Concept vehicle. This futuristic, six-wheeled design shifts focus entirely to the rear passenger.

In other words, this is not a back seat. It is a VIP lounge. Every detail feels considered, much like a high-fashion atelier.

A 360° Experience Inspired by Movement and Modern Luxury

Set inside Superstudio Più in Milan’s Tortona district, the installation invites movement. Rather than standing still, visitors walk through the space. As a result, the experience changes with every step.

At the same time, shifting visuals reference land, sea and air. These elements reshape how the vehicle is seen. Each angle reveals something new. Consequently, no two perspectives feel the same.

Moreover, the layout draws on Japanese garden design. Spaces unfold gradually, not all at once. This creates a slower, more intentional rhythm.

Where Design Meets Fashion-Level Craftsmanship

Beyond the main installation, a gallery-style space introduces emerging creatives. This is part of Lexus’s Discover Together 2026 initiative. Here, the LS Concept’s rear cabin becomes a blank canvas.

Instead of a car interior, it feels like a curated living space. Each designer offers a distinct perspective. Random Studio explores digital immersion, Guardini Ciuffreda Studio focuses on materiality. Kyotaro Hayashi and Yumi Kurotani bring a refined, sensory approach. Together, these works blend light, sound and interaction. As a result, the space feels responsive and alive.

This mirrors fashion’s current direction. Today, luxury is not just visual. It is emotional, tactile and immersive.

The Future of Luxury Is Experiential

Lexus has exhibited at Milan Design Week since 2005. However, Space marks a clear evolution. It moves beyond cars into lifestyle design.

At the same time, fashion brands are expanding into experiences. From cafés to concept spaces, the shift is clear. Lexus now operates in that same world.

Ultimately, Space reflects a new kind of luxury. It is fluid, curated and deeply personal.

Space is currently on show at Superstudio Più and runs until 26 April 2026.
