My London: Tue Deleuran – Founder of RTG Group & Colorful Standard

Tue Deleuran is the founder and CEO of the sustainable essentials brand Colorful Standard.

As a fashion industry native, Tue saw a need for a shake up in terms of standards and ethics, and wanted to create the concept of colourful essentials made responsibly. With this in mind, Deleuran opened up a manufacturing centre in Portugal, which started producing clothes made from raw and natural materials in 2018.

Colorful Standard, we love colours and we love simplicity…

Today, Colorful Standard offers over 20 products in over 40 colours and is sold at over 1000 retailers with four flagship stores, in France, Switzerland, England, and Denmark. The brand prides itself on being fully transparent, and its doors are always open for visitors.

We caught up with Tue Deleuran for the latest edition of our ‘My London’ interview series.

Favourite neighbourhood:

Shoreditch. I really like that it isn’t as posh as Mayfair or other parts of central London. Everything there is much smaller, with so many little stores and boutiques, and it reminds me much more of home. I could actually see myself living there if I were to live in London, and I would love to have a Colorful Standard store there as well.

Favourite place for brunch:

Cafe Van Gough is an amazing spot for vegetarian/ vegan lovers. I was lucky enough to be invited there by a friend and it was probably one of the highlights of that trip. The vegan options were so creative and filling, and I can assure you that meat-eaters will also have a good time.

Best coffee in London:

Shocking to some… but I am not a huge coffee drinker, so anywhere that has a pressed juice or a morning ginger shot. Please reach out to me with recommendations!

Favourite gallery or museum:

The first place that comes to mind is the Saatchi Museum. I like that it’s smaller than some of the other museums in the city, and that there are so many interesting exhibitions with light installations or mirrors. It reminds me of the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art, which is my favourite at home in Denmark.

Tell us a secret:

London customers have a lot to look forward to in the future! There may be even more Colorful Standard coming your way, but that is all I can say for now!

Favourite place to shop:

I’m not a big shopper. I believe in buying less, and buying things of better quality so that they last. If I do go out to shop, it is almost always for surfing gear.

Favourite place to find inspiration:

I always draw inspiration from taking a nature walk and looking at all the natural colours around me. I also really enjoy looking at the little bookstores within art museums. They are always filled with unique books with amazing covers in vibrant colours.

Best London destination for a date:

To be honest, I’ve never been on a date in London! The city is so huge, your options are pretty much endless.

Favourite park:

Serpentine Lake in Hyde Park. I love that you can go for a swim, and it is probably one of the only places within the city that gives a beach-like vibe. When there, I tend to forget that I’m in London for a moment.

Favourite food market:

Brixton Village Market! It just has this great busy and upbeat vibe with loads of people. The market itself has a diverse range of foods from several cultures and the vendors are so welcoming.

Your sanctuary in the city:

I’d have to say that I am still searching for it. Although there are so many spots that I like, I tend to try new things each time and haven’t found that one spot that is an absolute must every time I come back. To be determined!

What inspires you?

Any place with colours, I love to go traveling, see the ocean, and take in nature around me to draw inspiration. It is also always inspiring to meet new people and see new places and landscapes.

This season I’m loving:

Being able to go out and travel again! I am so looking forward to going to Portugal to take in the sun, surf, and also visit the Colorful Standard manufacturing centre.
