Centre for Sustainable Fashion launches new education platform

FashionSEEDS FashionSEEDS

The Centre for Sustainable Fashion has this week unveiled a new, free-to-use platform to support fashion educators worldwide in exploring, teaching and learning about sustainable practices in fashion design.

FashionSEEDS (standing for Societal, Economic and Environmental Design-led Sustainability) is the result of a partnership between four European universities brought together under the leadership of Dilys Williams, Director of the Centre for Sustainable Fashion based at the London College of Fashion, UAL. “As fashion tutors we have the opportunity and responsibility to be changemakers; to nurture knowledge, skills and capabilities that challenge damaging practices in the existing fashion system and design new systems that restore nature and equity,” Williams explains of the motivation behind the project.

The platform has been designed with all educators in mind, whether they are already experts in the field of sustainability or are just beginning to integrate the topic into existing courses.

FashionSEEDS has been co-designed and researched over a period of three years and involved teams at London College of Fashion UAL, Politecnico di Milano, Estonian Academy of the Arts and Design School Kolding. The project was co-funded by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union and also involved educators at over 70 other higher education institutions globally.
