Royal Ascot: The best hats so far…

Royal Ascot is the one time that women can step out in hats that put Lady Gaga to shame and blend in with the crowd. True to tradition many punters showed off  some millinery excellence on the first day in celebration of 300 years of the famous races.

The Queen arrived to the Berkshire event in a horse and carriage, waving at onlookers as they admired her mint green Angela Kelly and Karl Ludwig ensemble. Fellow Royals Beatrice and Eugenie followed behind in their own carriage wearing modest hats compared with their Royal Wedding headgear.

However, many attendees put their understated hats to shame with some amazing creations, including giant wigs, full bushes of flowers and crazy peacock feather pieces. We can only imagine what we’ll see by day 5! Take a look at the top hats so far…
