Mulberry Editions is back with a bang for 2022, with the launch of the collaborative collection from Nicholas Daley.
One of the most expressive of the series yet, Daley’s collection centres around the ‘Anthony’ – the unisex satchel, available in multiple sizes – and music-inspired accessories, including guitar and saxophone straps and plectrum pouches.
Daley takes his cue from the ‘60s and ‘70s as the heydays of jazz, reggae and rock’n’roll, and nods to outfits worn by Miles Davis, Roy Ayers and Jimi Hendrix on stage with whipstitching, fringing and braiding. The collection’s tonal palette of navy, ochre and oak is also evocative of the era.
“This range has been created with the musicians I’ve worked with in mind,” Daley explains, “almost like an accessories wardrobe for them to wear on stage.”
Naturally, some exciting musical names joined forces to bring the collection to life in the accompanying campaign film – Sons of Kemet frontman Shabaka Hutchings performs a specially written composition accompanied by Lianne La Havas, and members of Tomorrow’s Warriors, a charity that has nurtured some of London’s most exciting young jazz artists over the past 30 years, also star.
