We’ve been enjoying some beautiful sunny days in London so far this January, but like anyone who’s lived in the British Isles for longer than about 5 minutes we know not to take it for granted and have one eye on the forecast for rain and general winter weather incoming.
If you’re determined to meet the sartorial challenge of dressing stylishly for inclement weather head on, then you can’t do better than Dutch rainwear experts MAIUM. Based in Amsterdam, MAIUM was created by two friends who commuted in the rain for many years and could never find anything but traditional outerwear lacking style or function.
The brand’s latest SS22 collection, which includes bike-proof bags made from recycled nylon and plastic and the ‘Original’ and newly launched ‘Padded Mac’ outerwear, is called the ‘Future Commuter’ and designed to suit cycling as well as urban living generally. The entire unisex range is constructed from recycled PET bottles – to date, the brand has recycled over 2 million – and the fresh and bright colours are sure to lift even the greyest day.
Hooded and designed with a high collar for extra protection, both the outerwear styles have zips at the sides which allow you to convert them into ponchos and are fully waterproof with taped seams. The outerwear is accompanied by the ‘Backpack’ and ‘Tote Bag’ – part of the brand’s first range of bike-proof bags made from recycled nylon and plastic.
The first drop of MAIUM’s SS22 Collection is available now from MAIUM’s website.
