My London: Kristelle & Chelsie, Founders of Blondies Kitchen

Blondies Kitchen Blondies Kitchen

Blondies Kitchen is the UK’s first and only milk and cookies bar, founded by professionally trained chefs and best friends, Chelsie and Kristelle.

Inspired by American-style cookies on a trip to New York, the duo joined forces back in 2016, on a mission to bring the taste of the US back to London, and have since built up an army of UK and international super-fans, who cannot get enough of the brands unique cookie flavours and irresistible taste.

Blondies Kitchen

Best known and loved for its infamous creative bakes, Blondies Kitchen has taken the UK food world by storm, expanding from its pop-up origins to a permanent spot in London’s iconic Selfridges Food Hall (after being the most successful pop-up in their history) as well as offering nationwide delivery via its e-commerce platform BlondiesKitchen.co.uk.

We caught up with both Kristelle and Chelsie from Blondies Kitchen for the latest edition of our ‘My London’ interview series.

Favourite neighbourhood:

Kristelle: St John’s Wood for brunch, lunch, dinner and a mooch. Panzer’s Deli is my favourite weekend stop.

Favourite place for brunch:

Chelsie: I love Granger & Co just off the Kings Road; those whipped eggs and their ricotta hotcakes are the best out there.

Best coffee in London:

Chelsie: I don’t actually drink coffee (shock!), I’m a tea drinker.

Kristelle: Monmouth Borough, that’s a proper coffee. Mornings only or you’ll be buzzing into the evening!

Favourite gallery or museum:

Kristelle: The Tate Modern for sure. There’s always a new installation or collection of works which means every visit is unique. My art background loves a look at what’s going on inside someone’s creative mind.

Tell us a secret:

Chelsie: Adding a teaspoon of marmite to your carbonara will take it from average to next level. The best umami hit you’ll ever get!

Favourite place to shop:

Kristelle: I do all my shopping online now, I’m always in the kitchen during the day, freshly baking cookies or testing new Blondies Kitchen recipes! Net-a-Porter and ASOS are my go-to, and ASOS even do same day delivery which is just amazing because I’m that person that orders a dress for a party I have that evening.

Favourite place to find inspiration:

Chelsie: Pinterest and Instagram! I constantly find myself feeling inspired by looking at what’s going on in other people’s lives (without sounding creepy). Thanks to social media, the world is in the palm of our hands and that’s pretty mad – it’s also how we built our business, and now it’s how we reach our customers, listen to their feedback, and continue to adapt our business and bakes!

Best London destination for a date:

Kristelle: Somewhere fun like All Star Lanes for bowling or Junk Yard Golf. An interactive first date is always a good plan.

Favourite park:

Kristelle: Primrose Hill, the views are amazing at sunset and there’s always an ice cream van an arm stretch away.

Favourite food market:

Chelsie: Borough every time. Where else can you look left and pick up the best grilled cheese sandwich ever, but also look right and find specialist ingredients for an Asian/Middle Eastern or European feast too!?

Your sanctuary in the city:

Chelsie: Probably Selfridges Food Hall, where you’ll find our Blondies Kitchen concession too!

Kristelle: The Corinthia Spa for a full body massage, followed by lunch and a glass of Rose.

What inspires you?

Chelsie: Kristelle inspires me! She’s always inspiring me to come up with new ideas, to grow and develop the business, and have fun and remember why we started our Blondies Kitchen.

This season I’m loving:

Kristelle: Berries, I eat blueberries and raspberries every day – they’re so good at the moment! I’m also loving my Bottega mules. Berries and Bottega, what a combo!
