Kristina Falke is the Head of Global Communications at German leg wear brand, Falke.
Established in 1895, the family-run business, has been producing hosiery of unrivalled quality since 1895. Specialising in practical luxury, the label focuses on the needs of the wearer to create pieces that are the perfect colour, fabric and shape.
We caught up with Kristina Falke in London for the latest edition of our ‘My London’ interview series.
Favourite neighbourhood:
I have always enjoyed walks down the Kings Road, exploring new brand pop-up’s and London based fashion brands – you always count on discovering something new. I also love the new developments at Pavilion Road just off Sloane Square, it’s still a little bit of a hidden secret with lots of little independent cafes, bars and restaurants.
Favourite place for brunch:
My favourite meal of the day is definitely brunch especially on a Sunday morning! I tend to visit Bluebird on Kings Road a lot as you can spend hours just sitting and enjoying the outside area with friends and family.
Best coffee in London:
For me, the perfect coffee spot would have to be the Café Kitsune at Pantechnicon, as they have the most delicious matcha treats too! It’s located right off of the beautiful Motcomb Street, so I always love browsing their shop afterwards. They just have the best curated fashion and interior items. The perfect mix after, a great coffee (or Matcha!)
Favourite gallery or museum:
After Sunday brunch, I tend to find myself often wandering into the Saatchi Gallery, I guess that’s the beauty of London, you can easily walk 10-15 minutes and discover something new. I like to see the mix of international artists, they always have a beautiful curation of modern art, that you’ve often seen pop up on your Instagram feed.
Tell us a secret:
With hosiery being so a part of my world, for as long as I can remember, on my wedding day, I opted to not wear tights! My wedding took place in Italy at the end of September, in Portofino. Whilst it’s something that I always wear and include in my styles and look, on that occasion, I somehow unknowingly didn’t include the tights in my wedding day.
Favourite place to shop:
London has so many iconic heritage department stores and unique independent boutiques, however no visit to London is complete without a stop at Selfridges. Selfridges would have to be my favourite place, you can always find something you’re not looking to buy, and that you need to have. It’s also great to see the FALKE collection displayed amongst the other brands on the 3rd Floor.
Favourite place to find inspiration:
I would have to say Kew Gardens, with its captivating surroundings, you can easily find yourself immersed in the stillness. Perfect and calm surroundings, to think up new plans and ideas.
Best London destination for a date:
I’d say a good bar is the ideal setting for a first date, a drink at the Connaught Hotel Bar, and finishing the evening with a stroll on Mount Street. There’s something so special about walking the streets of London, day or night – you can discover so many unique areas and shops, which create the perfect conversations, for making plans for a second date. In my mind the perfect spot for a date has always been a black cab, whizzing through central London while chatting away – I guess in real life a bar like the Connaught hotel is much easier!
Favourite park:
It would have to be Richmond Park. The sheer size of it always calms me down, and I love the fact that it doesn’t feel like London at all. Where else in London can you see a herd of deer casually strolling past?.. it’s truly magical every time. I tend to find myself warming up with a cup of tea at Petersham Nurseries afterwards, it’s a great way to get in some steps and appreciate the surroundings.
Favourite food market:
It would have to be Borough Market, for the wide variety of new healthy creations with a mix of international smells and options. It may be full with tourists and visitors but you can’t beat the array of food it offers. Even German sausages!
Your sanctuary in the city:
When things get hectic, I usually find myself taking a moment for myself at the new Nobu Hotel on Portman Square. It’s the perfect environment to destress with a Pilates class or spa treatment.
What inspires you?
It would have to be the sea, salt and sun.
This season I’m loving:
The latest Tiffany X Supreme collaboration! I love how they revived a classic and iconic product, that the world associates the brand with, to create an edgy 20th century vision. Absolutely genius! I also loved the new Dior collection that was staged at Panathenaic Stadium in Athens. Every piece was just stunning.
