Fjällräven launches Samlaren collection using surplus fabric

This spring, iconic outdoor brand Fjällräven will be launching Samlaren – an initiative that brings new life to leftover fabrics.

The collection, which means “the gatherer” in Swedish will feature unique and collectible products that will be released in limited edition capsules.

The idea behind the collection is to create a flagship project for Fjällräven’s sustainability mission and circular production while inspiring a better and more innovative future.

Henrik Andersson, global creative director of Fjällräven, said about the inspiration for the collection: “The idea is to turn a problem into an opportunity and find new use for leftover material. I like the saying “one man’s trash is another man’s treasure” and with Samlaren we are turning our own “trash” into treasured pieces.”

Each Samlaren piece is created from leftover fabrics from Fjällräven’s mills and factories. The fabrics are combined in unique and playful designs and colour combinations in numbered limited editions.

The upcylced Samlaren collection offers the same high level of durability, functionality and reliability that can be expected from any Fjällräven product.

The first product drop will launch on the 1st of March 2021 and is a curated collection of re-invented classics made from surplus G-1000 fabric. The collection includes the Greenland jacket in colour block patchwork, and new versions of the classic Kånken backpack, tote bag, and cap.

Andersson describes the first drop as a “nice blend between classic products and constructions, and a playful-ness in piecing them together.”

The collection will be available from fjallraven.com and END. Clothing.
